Stripe looking at the crypto market again
Fintech company Stripe could be looking to enter the cryptocurrency space again after recent job posts indicate the company wants to hire crypto experts. This comes three years after the company ended Bitcoin support across its platforms.The company said it wants to bring together a cryptocurrency team headed by Guillaume Poncin, Stripe’s former head of engineering for banking and financial products. The Stripe executive is looking to hire at least four staffers to help design Stripe’s crypto strategy.
According to the LinkedIn job posts, the engineers will be tasked with designing and building the core components that Stripe needs to support crypto use cases. The job posts added that “Crypto is a brand new team at Stripe.”
Fintech companies are pouring into the cryptocurrency space
Stripe was previously involved in the cryptocurrency space but ended support for Bitcoin on its platforms three years ago. The fintech company is looking to re-enter the cryptocurrency payment scene after seeing numerous payment platforms do so.The past few months have seen numerous fintech companies such as PayPal, Venmo, Public.com, Revolut and MoneyLion enter the cryptocurrency space. These companies are now allowing customers to buy and sell Bitcoin and a wide range of other cryptocurrencies on their platforms.
