The Valkyrie ETF has become the second Bitcoin futures ETF to launch in the U.S.
Valkyrie’s Bitcoin futures ETF goes live
Valkyrie Investments’ bitcoin futures exchange-traded fund (ETF) started trading earlier today after winning the approval of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission earlier in the week. The new Valkyrie fund officially called the Bitcoin Strategy ETF, went live on the Nasdaq under the ticker BTF when stock markets opened earlier today.
Following the US SEC’s approval, Leah Wald, CEO of Valkyrie Funds, said that the upcoming launch of the Bitcoin futures ETF is a vital milestone in the relationship between the cryptocurrency industry and the United States regulators. After trading for an hour, the stock was changing hands at $24.53, down 1.9%.
Two Bitcoin futures ETFs now trading in the United States
The Valkyrie Bitcoin futures ETF started trading three days after the ProShares ETF launched on the NYSE Arca exchange. Within the first two trading days, the ProShares Bitcoin futures ETF surpassed $1 billion in trading volume.
Bitcoin’s price has cooled off following its latest rally that pushed it to a new all-time high above $67k. BTC is now trading above $61k per coin.
