The digital asset adoption agency Centrapay have secured seed-round funding from Coca-Cola Amatil’s investment arm Amatil X.
Coca-Cola Amatil are one of the largest non-alcoholic bottlers in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as one of five major bottlers for the drink’s behemoth Coca-Cola.
Established in 2018, their ‘corporate venturing platform’ Amatil X overseas research and discovery for strategic investment opportunities in tech-based start-ups and entrepreneurial enterprises which can help in assisting the company’s growth ambition.
Centrapay are focused on ‘democratising digital assets.’ Essentially, they provide the infrastructure and support to businesses in marketing their products, engaging an online brand, but in this case in adopting digital assets as a feature in their payments system.
They have accumulated an impressive list of worldwide customers include KFC, Adidas, Jack Daniels and BP amongst others.
An announcement today declared Centrapay as the latest company to secure investment from Amatil X, but notably the first start-up that operates within the cryptocurrency space. The amount was undisclosed to the public.
With this partnership, Centrapay plans to expand its payments offerings further than just digital assets to contactless fiat, Epay giftcards and vouchers. This will offer support to customers in reducing financial transaction fees and increase speed of payments.
CEO, Jerome Faury states that “there is a real appetite to provide customers with new ways to engage or to exchange value.”
Brands will benefit from this development in innovation of payments too. He continued to say that “Centrapay is in an ideal position to play a pioneering role in driving acceptance of digital assets with merchants.”
Adoption for the Centrapay’s service is global as it was just announced in June that 2,000 Coca-Cola machines in Australia and New Zealand now accepted Bitcoin as a form of payment because of a partnership with Centrapay.
Using a Sylo Smart Wallet, customers in these locations can show the machine a uniquely generated QR code and receive their chosen drinks product with payment taken from their Bitcoin wallet, or another wallet holding digital currency.
