Ripple are no strangers to significant charitable donations, however the latest contribution from executive chairman and co-founder, Chris Larsen is more than noteworthy. San Francisco State University announced on Friday that they received $25 million in XRP from Larsen and his wife Lyna Lam.
The donation will be assigned to the College of Business, which will recognise the donation by renaming the facility to the “Lam Family College of Business”. Larsen, a graduate of the college, co-founder of both Ripple and Prosper (a peer to peer lending marketplace) will be hoping the donation will help identify potential future pioneers within the space. University President, Leslie Wong also has very high hopes for the future of the project, anticipating that this donation will “position the College of Business as an evolving, distinctly diverse and industry-relevant epicentre of business innovation and entrepreneurship.”
“A world-class city demands a world-class university.” Was the mantra from Wong during Friday’s announcement, and with all the infrastructure and backing now firmly in place, the Lam Family College of Business in San Francisco will now look to unearth the next Chris Larsen.
