Binance US CEO Brian Brooks resigns because of strategic of differences

Brian Brooks announced that he has stepped down as CEO of Binance US after just four months.

The announcement was made on Twitter

Mr. Brooks announced his resignation on Twitter, writing, “Letting you all know that I have resigned as CEO of Binance.US. Despite differences over strategic direction, I wish my former colleagues much success.

Before Brooks worked at the U.S. arm of global crypto exchange Binance, he headed the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The regulator for national banks under President Donald Trump.

The hiring of Brooks appeared to have been part of a strategy by Binance.US and its parent company to improve their reputation by hiring respected former regulators from around the world. 

A similar situation happened 6 months ago

The resignation is the latest blow to Binance. This came only 6 months after Ricardo da Ros, former Country Manager of Binance Brazil, made the decision to leave the exchange due to professional differences with the company’s top management. In recent months, several countries, including the UK, Japan, and Italy, have taken action against Binance putting the exchange under regulatory pressure worldwide.

Despite the fact that the Exchange is not in the most pleasant situation, Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao said in a statement that he is “confident in Binance.US’ business and its commitment to serving its customers”.
