Apple’s payments unit is looking for a business development manager with experience in the cryptocurrency industry to lead its “alternative payments” partnership program.
Chief negotiator for the alternative payments space
The job posting from Apple states that one of the key qualifications for the role is at least five years’ experience “in or with alternative payment providers, such as digital wallets, BNPL, Fast Payments, cryptocurrency, etc.”
The company said the manager they are looking for will fulfil the role of Apple’s chief negotiator for the alternative payments space. So far, payments within iPhone and iPad apps can only be made through Apple’s system. There are also a number of restrictions that app developers must adhere to. With the recent job posting, there may be some hope that Apple will allow alternative payments.
Coinbase card might support Apple Pay in the future
The website Macrumours also discovered evidence that Apple Pay soon might be supported for the Coinbase card. They found a form of a recently added image asset called “CardGoogleApplePay.”
Apple has made no public statements about its plans for the crypto space.
